The Build Story
From Frustration to Hospitality Marketing Specialist
Byter started because I watched restaurants throw money at generic digital agencies and get nothing back. These agencies would run the same playbook they used for dentists and accountants — cookie-cutter social posts, broad Google Ads campaigns, zero understanding of how hospitality actually works. I knew I could do better because I understood the industry.
Why Hospitality is Different
Restaurants operate on razor-thin margins with seasonal demand, perishable inventory, and intensely local competition. A marketing agency that doesn't understand covers, RevPASH, or the difference between a Tuesday lunch and a Friday dinner service is going to waste your budget. That deep domain knowledge is our moat.
What We Actually Do
We run the full digital stack for restaurants, hotels, and hospitality brands:
- SEO — local search dominance, Google Business Profile optimisation, review management
- Paid Ads — Google Ads and Meta campaigns built around reservation intent and geographic targeting
- Social Media — content that actually drives bookings, not just likes
- Content Marketing — blog posts, email campaigns, and seasonal promotions that compound over time
The WordPress to Next.js Migration
The byter.com website has been running on WordPress for years — 554 blog posts, 102 pages, years of SEO equity. I'm currently migrating it to Next.js 15 with zero URL changes to preserve every bit of ranking. It's a massive undertaking but the performance and developer experience improvements are worth it.
Building the Team
Scaling an agency is fundamentally about people and processes. I've built systems so that our delivery is consistent regardless of which team member is on the account. SOPs for everything: onboarding, monthly reporting, content calendars, ad account audits. The boring operational stuff is what separates agencies that scale from those that implode.
The Content Engine
We publish consistently on the Byter blog — hospitality marketing guides, case studies, industry analysis. It's our primary lead generation channel. Every post is written to rank, and most of our inbound enquiries reference a blog post they found via Google. Content compounds in a way that paid ads never will.

Lessons Learned
- 01
Niche specialisation beats being a generalist agency every time — clients pay a premium for someone who genuinely understands their business.
- 02
The best marketing strategy is understanding your client's business model deeply enough to know which metrics actually matter to them.
- 03
Content marketing is a compounding asset — every blog post we published three years ago still generates leads today.
